So, we've established that cropping off kids heads isn't as bad as it sounds. As a matter of fact, it can be pretty darn cool. Now, let's just take it a step or two further.
Sure, you can crop, but can you CROP??? Here's me handling my point and shoot recklessly, as I like to do, not using the view finder, just kind of randomly sticking the camera in my kids faces snapping away. Try it. It's a freedom like you've never known. No investment in the outcome, just some good old haphazard fun where your effort is nothing more than to loosen up and have a giggle. Seriously, this IS how I like to use my digi PnS. Why the check not?
Alright, maybe there's many occasions where this approach seems silly and ineffective. I'll give you that. But for run of the mill, around the house FUN...you never know what you can do with this type of 'caution to the wind' style of shooting pictures. You gotta try it. And when you fling your camera all around and you capture something unexpectedly brilliant (like this funky shot of my 70S album cover girl over here) you can honestly say, "I meant to do that!"

I love the picture! I am going to try the point and shoot philosophy and see what I end up with...it looks like it could be a whole lot of fun!

So simple, so elementary.... I never would have thought of that on my own... Thanks for the tip! I'm gonna throw caution to the wind, & throw my camera around a lot more freely.....

I just submitted two pictures to the photo pool where the heads are really cropped... one was a total accident -- messing with the zoom and pushed the button. The other was a bit more deliberate.

Your daughter is the spitting image of you!
I took some crazy shots of my dog yesterday. Does that count? :)
