Wow Wii

So, it seems that my Nintendo Wii party was a super-big deal to a great many people. I have had a gazillion hits here on my ClubMom blog from, here's the irony, non-moms. I even got some comments from men (gasp)! Needless to say, I've been clicking around the gamer sites and blogs to see my words and my pictures all over the place. It's really bizarre.

I've heard about this kind of stuff happening to unsuspecting bloggers from various unassuming blog posts. You know, like one day you're posting about the fit your kid pitched at the dry-cleaners and you throw in a comment like, "You'd never see my husband having to deal with this crap...blah blah blah...does equal parenting exist...blah blah blah...what would Gloria Steinem do?" And the next day your having a phone call with Gloria (huh?)and then a big party with her and Jane Fonda is there (huh, huh?) and you're all, "How'd I get here?"

Yep, that's exactly what's happening to me except I'm getting all this attention from Nintendo lovers everywhere who are like, "Are you kidding me? A soccer mom and all of her zany relatives getting to be the first people who play the Wii System? This just can't be true. It must be a hoax. Oh, maybe it's not. Is it? Um, soccer mom, will you do an interview for us?" Wow, I mean I like all the attention (I think) but where's Gloria Steinem? Don't get me wrong, I am really grateful for the party I did have. It was a blast and playing the games was fun (although watching everyone else play was even more fun) and it was just an all-around good time (and NO, I wasn't not paid to say that...except in Mexican food and beer).

So, to all the visitors who have come to read all about it, welcome. And, it's true, I am an Ambassador and I don't get paid and I am a low-tech mom who writes a "moderately popular" mom blog (I think that's how one gamer put it). And for the record,  I don't really mind the title "soccer mom" because I guess I can see how I look like I fit the bill. Only one thing, neither of my kids play soccer. So, how about Mini-Van Mom? Now that's a title I can really be proud of.

And, I almost forgot, although we did have 4 Wii Systems in our home for 3 hours, they were promptly locked up and put away in the vaults upon Nintendo's departure. Nothing Wii remains but good vibes and the memories. Oh, and the Flickr pix.

Special shot outs to Nintendo & to my sister for being the "Ultimate Nintendo Ambassador." XOXO!!!

hey, i've spent the last day defending nintendo's choice to have you be an ambassador on various forums and blogs. I think this is exactly what the industry needs, but it seems like alot of people think viral promotions like this are ignoring and excluding the "hardcore" gamers ( who will probably buy a Wii on day one anyway) and are a general waste of time. but the attention your blog has gotten proves that their choice was correct, and word of mouth is sooooo much more valuable than a 30 sec. commercial. congrats!!!!

Out of all the other Wii parties I had read about yours seemed by far the most interesting.

I know one of the big "ifs" concerning the new Nintendo system is the attachment rate and ease of use for parents, and traditional non-gamers.

This might be a nice showing of things to come for Nintendo in creating a fun and entertaining system that is not a one-trick pony gimmick.

The rest of your blog(s) I find are also interesting to read and chances are I might stop by now and then to see whats going on.

Take care!

They should have given you guys a free Wii. Come On Nintendo!

STILL we (my kids) are very jealous of your awesome PARTY!

Thats a pretty cool Super Mario Bros poster visible in some of the pictures background.

Are you sure you weren't already a Nintendo happy household?

wow

The article is great.U truly deserve an applaud for that one.

Anybody know where the World of Warcraft European servers are located? Someone said they are all in Britain but I am not sure. Would they have some in Germany, some in Finland etc?
