Still Speaking of Sleep
Remember the days when the only time your baby would sleep was when you were holding them? Heck, some of you still might be in that boat! Well, I'm going to give you a little tip on how to photograph those snug bugs EVEN when you are holding them.
Use a mirror.
Exhibit A- Here's my tiny girl sleeping like a baby (and me, behind the camera). She was just about a week or so old. Anyway, every time she was asleep on me she looked adorable. Total photo moments everyday and no one around to shoot them. So, I decided to get my camera poised and ready and when she was sufficiently sacked-out, I picked up the camera and headed to the big round mirror in our family room. The light is always gorgeous in that room so I knew it would work almost any time of day. Keep in mind, these were the days Pre-Digital (PD) and I think I was shooting 400 speed film. It's the speed that's good for many lighting scenarios. That would mean if you were using a Digi SLR (a bigger, fancier digi camera than the regular point and shoot) you would have your ISO set to 400.
OK, I've got to ask you something (be honest) Do all of you know what your ISO setting is and/or how to change it and better yet, why?? This is a really important little tid-bit. Forgive me, sometimes I forget to touch on the basics because once you know something, you can forget it needs to be taught. I try not to fall into that but sometimes I do. ANYWAY, as we discuss sleep photos this week, a good tech issue to discuss is the camera's ISO. If you need to dig out your manuals, do it. It's worth it for this one. I'll go more into getting great sleep photos and the ISO tomorrow.

LOVE that photo! Yes, I do my ISO setting - it's something I learned about this summer while I was actually reading my manual to our camera.
Thanks for the reminder of the photo contest.
Have a great day!
