The Urchin Mother

It's My Best Shot Monday again. Here's my pick for the week.

Yes, this is a self-portrait and believe you me, it's so perfectly telling as I have battled an issue with socks for longer than I care to remember (just ask my mom). On on day like the one pictured here, I consider it a success as I actually found a pair that match. Holes and all.

I know this might be a little, I don't know, personal, but can someone please enlighten me as to how you keep from having 2 drawers full of matchless socks?

Oh, and while you're here, don't forget to share your Best (or favorite) Shot of the week. And would you, could you, please link your posts back here so we can get more and more people in on the fun? You know I appreciate that kind of thing. A little linky love goes a long way. After all, ClubMom is watching.

And speaking of linky love, if you've got some time, go check out the Share the Love Blog Awards over at One Woman's World. Heather, the mistress of the Awards is a fellow photographer and I am attempting to lure her into the Picture This fold. Anyway, besides discovering Heather (who is the bee's knees) there's a ton of nominees (little ol' me included) to browse through and vote for.

Tracey, that is quite the self portrait! I think you just need to throw away all your matchless socks and go buy some new ones. ;)

Here's my submission for today, with the linky love:

My son had a stomach situation this weekend, but in the bath started to ham it up, squirting me and threatening to eat bubbles: http://www.flickr.com/photos/57796560@N00/380131395/

Hi there, I agree with Stacy. Once you have your new pairs though, get a mesh bag and everytime you take them off, throw em in there. Then you just wash the bag and all of your socks and mates are together. The other easy way is to fold them back together when putting them in the laundry pile. Yeah, you have to unfold when you wash, but then they still stay together. This method has worked very well for me and my family. Loving the photos.

my younger one loving being back in the park...what could be better?

If the Bears had won, I would have picked a different picture. But they sucked, so this one it is.

Not my best work, but this one is my favorite because I was so proud of her, and she is so obviously proud of herself.

Thanks for letting me know about this, Tracey! What was I thinking, not finding you sooner?

I have 5 photos in my blog post today, 3 I took. My best shot is the pie because of the story alone. I actually like my husband and son's better.

Tracey, love the photo. About those socks, there will always be drawers of mismatched socks...

Tracey, I am with you on the sock thing. I spend way too much time every morning trying to find matching socks. But in California, how many months out of the year do you really need socks anyway?

Here is a link to the post for My Best Shot Monday. I like the last of the three the best.

This was my favorite for the week and there is a story behind it....I had originally dressed the kids in cute outfits, donned them with cute little mylar valentine balloons and set up a nice backdrop for the perfect photo for their Valentine's cards. (Yes, I am insane enough to make Valentine cards as faithfully as my Christmas cards). So, with all that effort the only shot I got was the two of them sword fighting with the balloons. They were NOT posing for pictures!! So, being frustrated and a little disappointed I returned them to the playclothes and set them free. Five minutes later I walk into their playroom to discover the perfect Valentine shot....with no props, cute outfits or perfect poses...just a love b/t a big sister and her little brother.
Take a look!!!

Whew, I'm breakin' rules all over the place. This was fun and indeed it ended up being one picture. Thanks Tracey.

I love the holey socks! One of my best shot candidates from this week was a line-up of eight different black socks, none of which match of course.

You have to throw away the socks without matches. Be ruthless.

I thought I posted my link yesterday, but obviously did not. How did that happen!?! I love this little game.

Anyway...check it out at:
