Picture a Word

Over at my other blog, I just reviewed a new show that will soon be coming out on PBS Kids called Word World for The Parent Blogger Network. If you want to find out how much my daughter loves the show, go read all about it over there.

If you'd like to win yourself a copy of the show on DVD (it's got 2 episodes on it) just leave a comment here and you'll be put into a random drawing. Here's the only catch; you must post your child's favorite word (let's keep it clean moms) in your comment. I would admit that right now my daughter's favorite word is "poop" but since I've asked you to keep it clean, I won't. Yep, the Clark family has been reduced to lots toilet humor. It's nothing I'm proud of, believe me.

But, back to Word World. The series begins on Sept 3rd so stay tuned and like I said, if you want to win a copy, comment here (note-I'm offering the exact same giveaway at Mother May I and yes, you may enter at both blogs but you must leave a comment at both). Oh, AND, if you somehow manage to take a photo of the word you are using, include a link to where the photo is and I'll throw your name in for the drawing twice. That's doubling your chances I think but then again, I don't do math. I do words.

So, what's your word?

Do raspberries count as a word? How about Agoooo?

The best I can do, making raspberries!

My youngest's current favorite word is "doing". Like a bouncing sound? He goes around just muttering "doing doing doing".

my word: actually
(i have a 2 year old with a large vocabulary... it is cool and frusterating at the same time.)

she really does say it all the time. as in, "actually i'm going to the store". she always "actually" doing something. i guess she just likes using big words that she hears mommy and daddy use?

your daughter has the sweetest, kind eyes. Well, if I take out the potty words, i'm not sure there's anything left in my children's vocabulary. But if i had to think, my son's is "sweet", middle child, "mine!" youngest "chunkaboodalow"...her way of saying "chunky booty love". :0)

That's SO cool! My son talks so much that I think every word is his favorite, but currently he loves to say "Pardon Me, scuse me..." when he burps. Lovely, I know.

If you haven't already, you should check out the videos by Leap Frog: "Letter Factory" and "Word Factory." They've literally taught my two year old the sound of every letter in about a week. You can get them at Target.

Ally's favorite word is fussy. As in "Why is Anya being so fussy? Maybe she needs a nap"

Lucas favorite word is 'what' but he says it more like 'wha'...wha is dat mama, wha are you doin, wha wrong, wha, me?

Nadia's favorite word is "Nana" - her version of her own name. she claims everything as her own these days.

Garrett's favorite word at the moment is problem, as in:

What's your problem?
THIS is a problem - I wanted XXX not YYY.
Are we going to have a problem?

Ahhh, the wisdom of 2 year olds.

the five year old's favorite word is "whatever." (oy, we're in for a rough ride, aren't we??)

the almost-2-year-old's favorite word is "mine." (again, the fun is just beginning, isn't it!?)

luckily the baby can't talk yet.

Emily's favorite word (my one-year-old is : uh-oh!

Jenna's favorite is on your other blog!

Mitchell's favorite word is "what?" He says it after just about everything anyone says to him. Usually if I wait and don't say anything, he'll answer me without me having to repeat it. Makes me crazy.

Foo's favorite word: compromise.

I made the mistake (?) one day of asking her to work with me to compromise on how we were going to accomplish some things at home and go to the park. Well, now she pulls that word out anytime she wants something right now and I say we need to wait.

It's wonderful to see the lesson being learned, but why exactly did I want to teach her to "use it against me?"

Violet's is "supercalifragilisticexpealedocious" (no really, I just asked her! LOL)
and Olivia's is "I love you" (that's what she just said when I asked her....awwww)

I don't know if its his favorite word, but his favorite food (which he asks for quite a bit) is "pizzaroni." That's his way of asking for pepperoni pizza!

Oh, it's nice to see that we're not the only ones that have potty mouths. And that's hard because my 3 yo's fav word is "poop" too. Second fav word is "mama". She'll just say "mama" and I'll say "yes?" and she'll say "Oh, nothing."

CEREAL!!! My 5 year old lives for CEREAL...breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner:)

"Corrugated": my dad taught it to my 3-year-old, and now she asks, "Can I have a corrugated straw?"

I have four kiddos so I'll include 4 words....
poop
butt
paperwork (new favorite thing to do at school)
MaMa (18 month old)

HI! I am a Kindergarten-3rd grade Special Education teacher from Illinois. I do not have children of my own, but I'd love a chance to win the DVD to use with my beginning readers at school. Right now my students' favorite word is NOCTURNAL. We have a VERY old guinea pig as a class pet and he just isn't as active as he used to be... so we have decided that he is NOCTURNAL.

Well, I think Eli's favorite word at the moment is, 'no.' Lucky me ;-)

Sounds like a great program...thanks for telling us about it!!

And happy belated birthday, Tracey ;-) You make 40 look pretty pretty darn good, mam ;-)

My Eli's favorite word these days is "ummmm." I honestly don't know what prompted him to start saying it but it precedes just about every thought. Better than the random insertion of "like" I guess. :)

I'm going to go with no as well, my fifteen-month-old Henry's favorite word!

And Tracey, she looks SO much like you!
So gorgeous!
