The Best Kind of Fest
It wouldn't be October without a trip to Oktoberfest. This year we went with a bunch of friends and did it up family style. I sat on the edge of the dance floor with my camera in my lap (yes, in my lap) and I just shot whatever I thought looked interesting without looking through the view finder. I was photographer incognito and got some really funny shots.
I have a ton more and like this one they make it very obvious that I was shooting from my lap but come on but sometimes it's more important to do the chicken dance than anything else.
Did you shoot anything from the hip this week? You can answer that literally or figuratively. It's up to you.

How.I.Love.This! Too much fun.
I didn't shoot anything last week, really. Life sort of stank..is that a word? I got sappy and played with scanning old photos of the boys.

You don't want to see anything I've shot from the hip--whenever that happens, it's more likely to contain a dog's nose than not :)
I've changed my theme a bit, so you'll need to click on the picture to see more than just a 150x150 thumbnail :)

P.S. Obviously, your Oktoberfests are way cooler there than they are here. At our big fest, people just drink and one or two falls into the river never to be seen again. Every. Single. Year.

I do that all the time. I don't think this one was taken that way, though.

We went to Boo at the Zoo last night in DC. When we got to the Frog Statue, my son made me change the lens (I'd had the zoom on my camera) so I could take this picture... http://flickr.com/photos/divrchk/1795978185/in/pool-ttpt/

Loving the freedom of that idea! Great fun in the shot, Tracey.
Here's my best shot, with a question on blending two shots into one. Photoshop help, anyone? And go Red Sox!

So cool - my husband just shoots without using the viewfinder all the time and has very surprising results. I need to let go and try it some time.
